As mentioned in our post about the hotel and location we stayed in, we didn’t have breakfast included in our rate. We stumbled upon a few places wondering around and found some by researching the area. It’s worth pointing out that in the Bay Area, quite a lot of the restaurants close by 9pm, the reason being foot traffic. A few people said to us while we were that it’s a bit of a cultural thing, too.
Here’s a few places (in no specific order) we would recommend:
1. Posh Bagel
This is less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel, and we LOVED it. It was our go-to for breakfast as it was lovely food and good value for money. Just like on most bagel deli’s in the US; you pick from a selection of bagels and tell them what you want on it. Easy!
2. Mini Mart
This might sound like a strange on to start with, but as we mentioned in our post about the drink in LA, San Francisco is also expensive when it comes to alcohol. You may also notice it has a poor star rating. To be honest, we bought snacks and drinks at the place and never had an issue. The wine and beer was a reasonable price, and had a good few nights on the hotel rooftop terrace.
3. Amorino Gelato.
Let’s talk about this place, over the road from the hotel was this gem of an ice cream store. As mentioned in our post about the hotel and location, it was probably the best ice creams we’ve ever had. There’s not much more to stay about this to be honest, but I’d 100% recommend it if you’re in San Francisco.
4. Sears Fine Food
This is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel and a recommended spot for breakfast, too. We ate here when we first arrived and the food and atmosphere was great. It’s fairly expensive though, we didn’t expect the $6 for a glass of orange juice! The juice was almost as expensive as the omelettes.
5. E&O Kitchen & Bar
We stumbled across this restaurant whilst looking for something which was open around 8pm, and our options were limited. This is an Asian style restaurant, and we tried to order off UberEats for speed, and planned to eat it on the rooftop, but the order failed and we ended up wondering around. We were so glad we did as it was a great place, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and we thought the food was great.
6. Uncle Vito’s Pizza
As we struggled a little to find places open later, this place was recommended to us. Again, it’s not far away from the hotel which was great for convenience. It was no comparison to Joe’s Pizza in LA, but it was nice. We sat on the rooftop of the hotel with a glass of red and watched the sunset, it was lovely.
7. Eight AM
Compared to the options above which were very local to our hotel, this one is a little while away (around 30 minutes walk) but was recommended to us. We were not disappointed, the breakfast was amazing, and it seemed like a popular spot!
