This part of our trip was what we spent most time dwelling over. Which entrance to Yosemite? Which hotel? Which route to take?
We also had to consider the last part of our trip from Yosemite to Las Vegas, how did we get there and which airport to fly from? Travel back to SFO or somewhere else?
We opted for Yosemite Southgate Hotel & Suites in Oakhurst, and to fly out of Fresno.
From our hotel in San Francisco, we took a Lyft back to SFO International to pick up our car which was around £30. There is an office in the downtown area but it seemed more expensive, and the airport was closer to get straight on the interstate.
From the airport, we took this route, and stopped in Merced at a supermarket to pick up some supplies for our time in Yosemite (snacks, drinks, beers, etc).
From here, we continued our journey towards Yosemite Southgate Hotel & Suites.
The journey was smooth, and relatively easy if you’re not used to driving in the US. It took around 4 hours in total, and was a pleasant drive.
