We mentioned a little bit about this in our post about the hotel in LA and its location which you can read about here. To expand a little, here’s some information about local spots, in no specific order:
- Pink Dot
This is essentially local convince store which sells snacks, water, beer, wine, and most things you’d find in a corner shop in the UK. It’s not particularly cheap, but it was close to the hotel to get some bits for the room and our days out, which was cheaper than buying drinks whilst out and about.
2. Joe’s Pizza
This pizza take-out was so good, we had it twice, and was probably one of the highlights of our trip in California. We took it back to the hotel and had it with a bottle of wine next to the pool. If you’re in the area, we 100% recommend it.
3. Bossa Nova Brazilian
A little further down the road from the pizza place is the Bossa Nova, we liked this place…it was essentially just a meat restaurant. It was really nice sitting on Sunset Boulevard while we ate, and would recommend it if you’re in the area.
4. Granville
This is a short taxi ride away from the hotel but was probably a tie with Joe’s pizza for the best meal we had on our trip. The restaurant seemed very popular, and was very modern and sleek inside. We decided to sit outside, which was a little bizarre as it’s right opposite a hospital…seemed fine though!
5. Saddle Ranch
This is directly opposite the hotel when you leave. It’s very quirky, there’s a bull challenge in the middle to see who will fall off first (didn’t try this…). One evening we had a few options off the starter menu and we decided we didn’t need an evening meal after it. They also brought out a complimentary sharing nacho bowl, which was great. There’s lots of other choice on the menu, and we’d recommend it just purely for convenience.
6. Pump Restaurant & Lounge
Like Granville, this restaurant was a few minutes away in a Lyft. This was probably our ‘treat’ night as the food was a little more expensive than other restaurants in this list. The outside seating area is under some trees, just like sitting in a garden.
We did pass some other options on our walks such as the posh looking Chaatto Mormont, about 10 minutes walk away to the right of the hotel, and a diner based in an old train.
