We stayed in The Orchard Garden Hotel on Bush Street. It’s based just outside of the business district of the downtown area. We thought it was in a good central location, and not too far from all of the things we wanted to see.

The staff were welcoming and friendly, and checked us in straight away, which was nice as it was early morning and usually that means luck of the draw in case your room isn’t ready. There isn’t really a lobby area as such but there is a dining area for breakfast and dinner, neither of which were included in our stay.

Heading up to our room, it was a good size but not as big as the hotel in LA. The bathroom was a similar size to the room (but the bathroom was big). There was a fridge in the room, and tea/coffee making facilities. On a couple of the floors below there was an ice machine and a filter water, which was useful for each day to take drinks out with you.

Heading up to the top floor and you come out on the small roof terrace, we spent time up here on two nights with a bottle of wine, and it was a lovely experience.

If you’re looking for information about what’s in the area food wise, check out our post about places to eat.

Just over the road is a reasonably priced mini mart, a bit like Pink Dot in LA. There’s a bagel deli about 10 minutes walk away, along with one of the best ice cream parlours we’ve ever been to…EVER (see link to blog post above).

About 10 minutes walk from the hotel is a stop for the famous San Francisco tram line, we only used this a few times (mainly for the experience) as we preferred to wonder around by foot.
